James Sligh is spending the year living in Jaén, España, and commutes by bus to a secondary school in Bédmar, a pueblo of about 3,000 people, where he is a language & culture assistant in Andalucía’s relatively new bilingual initiative – profesor de íngles, y también en clases de música y ciencias naturales.

Previous to this he had graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA, where he recieved a BFA in fiction, & left clutching a creative thesis in hand. He was born in a small town in Michigan founded by the Dutch, near a giant reconstructed windmill, & attended a boarding school in a glass-green valley in southern California.
